This year’s annual meeting of CHANCEN eG on June, 9th is designed with an exciting program which provides two workshop periods for you. The first workshops take place in the morning from 10am – 1pm. Round two is held in the afternoon from 3.15 – 4.30pm

The morning program is focused on personal development activities. In the afternoon we like to enter into a discussion with other members of the cooperative to take a look on on CHANCEN eG’s educational ideal and develop ideas on a mentoring program for the students. Therefore, we like to include the student community of CHANCEN International in Rwanda.

MORNING

10.15 am – 1.00 pm

Solidarity and mutual support are important principles that strengthen and further us as a community. But if things get risky, devaluations, threats and demands are part of our everyday culture. Sometimes it seems hard to imagine how we can still influence each other if we did not urge each other. But the price is high: Honesty seems destructive, whereas it should rather clarify. Compassion becomes weakness, although we wanted to help. Disagreements are swallowed for the sake of peace. Compromises leave bad feelings or even resentment. No matter where in life, verbal violence is a threat to relationships.
My presentation aims to raise awareness for “non-violent communication”. I will draw attention to a way of social interaction which allows a trustful solidarity.

Niklas Wilkens is a qualified psychotherapist and has completed his non-violent communication training with Marshall Rosenberg, the inventor of the concept. Over the past 13 years, Niklas has been reflecting on questions such as: What connects people despite their differences? What nourishes trust and generosity? How can relationships be refreshened and enriched?

10.15 am – 1.00 pm

Why do I act the way I act? How can I identify my interests, desires and needs? How can I gain certainty about my real desires? This workshop will address all of the beforementioned questions. The purpose of the workshop is to develop an understanding of what it means to have (a) goal(s) and to take first steps in addressing the ever-returning question of personal goals through reflective exercises.

Caspar-Fridolin Lorenz is chairman of the supervisory board of the Studierendengesellschaft that has developed the ISA at Witten University, he is a corporate and management consultant and cultural scientist. Additionally, he is also a member of CHANCEN eG’s advisory board.

AFTERNOON

3.15 pm – 4.30 pm

This workshop aims to discuss the question of what can be understood as ‘successful education’?
The broad and diverse history of ‘university’ itself brings many definitions and perceptions… We would furthermore invite you to reflect and exchange your own experiences. Some things might be better, some less. Let’s find out what could be improved!

3.15 pm – 4.30 pm

Together, we would like to develop community programs and offers that will allow us to broaden our horizons and to engage in cross-disciplinary dialogue. I a joint brainstorming session, we will collect ideas and goals to develop first concrete plans. Therefore, we need input from the community: Which topics would you like to address? From which formats can you profit most and in which context would you like to exchange with the community and support each other?
